A few weeks ago, NewSpring hosted a one day leadership conference. They have posted lots of great information on their website, including breakout session pdf files. I highly recommend going out and reading these documents. There is some good information from technical design to church finances.

One in particular that I found just plain humorous for me was a Q&A during the Worship Leader’s breakout. Check it:

“Q: How can you get a good sound guy? 
  A: (Joel) First, pray. Second, look for a musician who is not interested in playing. Musicians can make good sound guys because they understand music, and they understand musicians.”

Those who know me, know that line wraps my life up pretty well. I wouldn’t call myself great, but I know the field. I use to play and know music, but not any more because my skills from playing are better used to make the bands sound better (sound guy humor). Seriously though, that’s me…
